New Yorker Review

What Happened To Lani Garver by Carol Plum-Ucci, is an interesting book about a new kid to Hackett island and his effect on the some of the people on it. In the story he gets close to the protagonist, Claire, and helps get out when she’s in need. They form a close bond, which is resented by the rest of Claire’s friends who think that Lani is bad news. This causes much well described and interesting conflict, which is a big joy to read. Her descriptions throughout the story are powerful and give greater pictures than one could imagine. The plot is edgy and keeps you on the edge of your seat, making you crave for more even while you read.
